The fourth quarter of 2021 was another active three months. According to Morningstar, South African asset managers launched 17 new funds. These launches bring the total number of locally registered funds to about 1,700.
Citywire South Africa selected 12 interesting funds launched by local fund managers during the quarter. The latest figures show that these funds had combined assets under management of just over R1bn.
The largest of them is the R248m Affinity Ci Worldwide Flexible fund of funds, followed by the R173m Sequoia BCI Global Flexible fund of funds and the R161m Amity BCI Diversified Income fund.
Among the well-known names, Old Mutual inaugurated the Old Mutual multi-managers worldwide multi-asset fund of funds, and M&G launched the M&G global property feeder fund.
During the quarter, an unusual fund launched was the Glacier Artificial Intelligence (AI) Balanced fund.
